SLS Trading Group provides the supply chain solutions to our clients across the Southern and Central African regions. Specialising in mining and the trade of consumables/reagents for global trading houses and mines across the region, giving you one accountable partner from port to mine to port on bi-directional cargo flows, tailored to our clients’ needs.

Freight Forwarding

Cross-Border Freight Forwarding Across Central and Southern Africa

SLS Trading is one of the leading cross-border freight forwarding operators in the Central and Southern African region. We manage 35,000 metric tonnes of cargo per month to and from the DRC, handling both northbound reagent imports for mining operations and southbound exports of copper and cobalt.

Our freight forwarding service covers road transport, multimodal solutions, and full supply chain coordination across seven active corridors. In 2020, SLS was moving less than 15,000 MT per month. By 2025, that volume had grown to 35,000 MT monthly. Our target for 2026 and 2027 is 50,000+ MT per month.

Warehousing

Logistics Warehousing and Storage Across the DRC, Zambia, and Angola

SLS operates strategic warehousing and storage facilities at the key hub points along its corridor network. With over 34,000 square metres of covered warehouse space and more than 156,000 square metres of open yard, we provide the storage infrastructure that keeps high-volume mining logistics moving without interruption.

Every facility is positioned to minimise transit time, reduce cargo handling steps, and provide secure, monitored storage for high-value mining inputs and mineral exports.

Kolwezi, DRC

Customs Clearing

Customs Clearing Services Across Central and Southern Africa

Cross-border logistics in Central Africa moves on documentation as much as it moves on trucks. Delays at the border cost money, time, and client trust. SLS Trading provides end-to-end customs clearing services across all our operational corridors, with in-house clearing teams who know the regulations, the relationships, and the practical realities of each border crossing.

Our clearing teams are embedded at every key border point along our active corridors, giving you real-time status updates and eliminating the bottlenecks that come from outsourcing this critical function.

What we manage

Rail Logistics

Rail Logistics Solutions Along the DRC, Angola, Zambia and Tanzania Corridors

SLS Trading operates a dedicated rail logistics service along the Dilolo corridor, moving copper cathodes and mining reagents from the Copperbelt to the ports of Luanda, Dar es Salaam, and Ndola. With a fleet of locomotives and 100+ rail wagons, we provide a reliable, scalable alternative to road transport for high-volume mineral exports.

Rail transport on our corridors offers mining exporters a lower cost per tonne for large volumes, reduced road wear and security risk, and direct port access through Lobito and Luanda. Capacity scales in alignment with mine production cycles.

Mining Supply Chain

Mining Logistics Specialists in Central and Southern Africa

Mining logistics in Central Africa is a specialist discipline. Delays, cargo losses, or border failures at the wrong point in a mining production cycle carry consequences that go well beyond the cost of the shipment itself. SLS Trading has been a trusted logistics partner to the mining sector since 2008, building the operational systems, local relationships, and corridor knowledge that keep mining supply chains running.

The Copperbelt is the heart of our mining logistics operations, supporting import and export logistics for the region’s major mining operations. We are active across every corridor leading into and out of the region.

We support global commodity traders and mining majors across the region with secure, high-integrity handling of copper cathodes and cobalt exports.

International Trading

Mining Reagent Supply and International Trading Into the Copperbelt

Beyond logistics, SLS Trading operates an active international trading business, importing mining reagents into the Copperbelt and supplying them locally to mine operators. This gives our clients a single partner for both the procurement of reagents and their delivery to site, eliminating the coordination risk that comes from managing multiple suppliers.

Our trading volumes have grown steadily alongside our logistics operations, reaching 20,000 to 25,000 MT per month of imported reagents, plus a further 5,000 to 10,000 MT per month of sulphuric acid supplied locally within the Copperbelt.
